Galderma has selected Aruba as its global standard for wireless LANs. Galderma, a joint venture between Nestlé and L'Oréal, is an international pharmaceutical company exclusively dedicated to dermatology. Aruba was selected for the project based on its robust wireless LANs, ease of use, remote access capability for remote offices and teleworkers, and end-to-end security.

Riverbed Technology continues to enhance its WAN optimisation software and hardware appliances to extend their reach from the data centre to branch offices and mobile workers. The company has essentially revamped its entire product portfolio with upgrades to its operating system, mobile software, and the Riverbed Services Platform (RSP), a platform for third-party software modules built on virtualisation technology from VMware.

Thanks to some very durable APs, a wireless mesh network now provides much-appreciated personal high-speed Internet access to US Army and Air Force servicemembers stationed at Joint Base Balad in Iraq. The Aruba Networks hardware, in a deployment by Babylon Telecommunications, will eventually reach all of the military housing, as well as most civilian contractor housing on the huge, permanent American military base 42 miles north of Baghdad.

26.10.2008 - Riverbed announces new Steelhead 5050 and 6050 models

Riverbed has announced two new models to the existing xx50 series, models 5050 and 6050, which enhance Riverbed's offering by providing your customers with more discs (16 in total) as well as bigger data store capacities and improved serviceability. In addition, it includes 4 onboard copper bypass ports and a maximum of 20 bypass ports. The appliances utilise the same PCI-e bypass cards as Steelhead models 1050/2050, 4-port copper, 2/4 port Fiber with mix and match support.

26.10.2008 - End of Sale - Steelhead 520, 1020, 1520 and 2020
With the addition of the xx50 series, Riverbed hereby announces the end of sale of Steelhead models 520, 1020, 1520, and 2020. These systems will no longer be available for sale effective January 7th, 2009. Customers and partners may continue to order these systems from Riverbed through January 6th, 2009, subject to availability. Customers may continue to order Riverbed support services on these systems subject to Riverbed's end of sale and end of support policy.

23.10.2008 - Gartner tells us all what we already knew about the Cisco WAAS
Gartner said problems with software quality and stability issues should make customers wary and that the product is still immature when compared with its competitors, and successful deployments can be difficult to predict.  They reported that customer are having issues with the Cisco WAAS and that is does not meet the Cisco standards and it has taken some accounts six months or more to resolve significant bugs.
